Practice Study Report On E-C Translation Of The 2013 Summer Sermon Series By Minister Allah

This thesis is an English to Chinese translation practice report on the speech script of The 2013 Summer Sermon Series by Minister Allah.The original English text comes from the Summer Sermon Series held in California,the USA in 2013.The theme of the speech comes from the work of Marc Gellman--Always Wear Clean Underwear! and Other Ways Parents Say "I Love You".With a humorous language and examples close to life,the speaker led the audience onto a spiritual trip about "how to survey one's true heart and life".It's very inculcating in purifying one's soul and guiding one's growth and is a rare and valuable collection of religious speeches.In this report,we have studied and summarized the whole translation process and practice in the hope that we can provide certain translation theory inspirations and methodology guidance on "religious speech" which integrates public speaking and religious culture,provide an individual case reference for empirical studies,innovate the translation theories and practical skills on "religious speech" so as to promote the translation study of"religious speech" in the translation circle.This report consists of task description,practice process,practice study and individual case analysis.Considering that the missionary speeches integrate religious culture with speech,the author has adopted the "dynamic equivalence" theory proposed by the famous American linguist Eugene A Nida as the guiding theory and conducted a comprehensive analysis and summary of the translation practice with specific translation methods.In response to the major difficulties posed by glossary and sentence patterns,the author has resorted to a series of methods including literal and free translation,positive and negative translation,sequential and reversing translation in an effort to achieve "dynamic equivalence" and ensure that the readers of the target text have similar reaction to the text with those of the source text.
