Foreign students learn Chinese tones are both main point and difficult point.It is because Chinese tones has different meanings function.Accordingly,in order to accurately express themselves,foreign students must to learn Chinese tones well.But,on the learning Chinese tones,foreign students also encountered a lot of difficulties.So that,Chinese tones has become one of the difficulties in learning Chinese.For Indonesian students as non-Chinese native speakers,the biggest difficulties in learning Chinese tones are the second and third tone.Therefore,in this research the author tries to find out the situation of Indonesian students' perception and pronunciation by means of perception experiment and pronunciation experiment,find out the main reason why Indonesian student often confuse the second tone and the third tone.Hopefully,this research can provide reference for teaching Chinese as a second language,find out more relevance teaching methods in order to help Chinese teachers and learners overcome the difficulties in tone.This thesis consists of five chapters :The first chapter is introduction,includes this research selected topic reason,perception and pronunciation researches in China and abroad,research intends to solve problems and also research ideas;The second chapter are perception research of Chinese second tone and third tone,includes research subjects,research materials,research methods and use R data analysis software and Microsoft Excel for data statistics and analysis.The third chapter is the research on the pronunciation of tone,including research subjects,research materials,methods of operation,the subjective judgment and objective statistics and analysis.Subjective judgment in pronunciation was invited Chinese native speakers to listen and determine the research subjects' tone is wrong or not,find out the ratio of subjects pronunciation errors.In the other hand,objective analysis doing through Praat software in order to analyze the research subjects' tone chart.In addition,this research also uses LZ normalization method to find out the second and third tone of the subjects in the pitch type and pitch value.The fourth chapter is some suggestion from author about relevance methods to teach Chinese second and third tone,include strengthen phonetic input exercise,using phonetics analyzer software which often using in experimental phonetics,design a variety of oral training methods,etc.The fifth chapter is conclusion.The conclusion of this research are Indonesian students at perception category has category perception tendency,they determined time of turning point and ?F0 more at the front stimulus as second tone and determined time of turning point and ?F0 more at the back stimulus as third tone.But,as far as the boundary of the category is concerned,further statistics are needed.Pronunciation experiment results show that Indonesian students pronounce one-syllable,two syllables and in flow of speech have some errors.According to normalization and T value calculated found that Indonesian students in pitch type and pitch value also have some problems.In the end of this paper,some data and references which used during research attaches.
