A Project Report On The C-E Translation Of Specifications Of Goldwind 1.5mw Wind Turbine Generator System

Under dual pressure of conventional energy emergency and global environmental deterioration, wind power and other renewable clean energy have been rapidly developed and utilized, which gives birth to the vigorous development of China's wind power industry. As wind power products enter into the international market, the Chinese-English translation of specifications has been playing a vital role and a high quality of the translation version is of great necessity. However, current wind power specifications translation varies in quality due to lack of specialized translation study and guidance.Specifications of Goldwind 1.5MW Wind Turbine Generator System is served as the study object of this report. On the basis of a brief introduction to the content of the source text and an elaboration on its stylistic features, the translating process revolves around the purpose of realizing the function of specifications of information transmission and exchange, in accordance with the translation standards of being faithful and accurate,smooth and fluent, and standard and professional. The causes of major issues and difficulties in the translating process are analyzed from the perspectives of differences between Chinese and English in thinking and characteristics of the scientific text.Appropriate methods including literal and free translation, zero translation, conversion,linear translation, and word order adjustment etc. are taken to resolve major issues and difficulties, namely terminology, nominal structures, passive voice and complex long sentences. It is hoped that this report can provide certain reference for the translation of wind turbine generator system specifications, benefit users and businesses, and improve the author's translation competence.
