A Reflective Research Report On The E-C Translation Of News Of Automobile Launches

This reflective research report is based on the E-C translation of automobile news of launches.The main contents of the automobile news of product launching include the time of the release,the outlook of new products,the power strain,the sales area and some spied photos.Such kind of news contains massive information and professional knowledge,which the lexical and syntactic methods are usually various.The author chooses 40 pieces of the most typical translation work she did during June to August,2016(among which there is one had been issued in 2014 but was retranslated in 2016).Grounded on these practices she discusses the translation strategies and skills in detail as well as some valuable experience.The report is written from the perspective of lexicon and syntax and guided by Nida's functional equivalence theory.From a purely lexical viewpoint,it raises and analyzes the disambiguation in meaning determination of polysemy and the translation of automobile jargons;from a syntactical view,this report proposed some solutions about how to translate sentences containing massive information.For polysemy,the author discussed the translation solutions of determining the words meaning according to the context and professional knowledge;when dealing with automobile jargon,amplification,or adding background information is the main translation method to make the translation work easier to understand.For long and complicated sentences with massive information,the author adopts division,reorganizing the sentences and adding the implicit information.Due to the different language habits between English and Chinese,the author transfers the sentences with obvious English features into which conform to Chinese reading habits to achieve the functional equivalence translation effect.On the basis of the professional knowledge study and translation practice,the author has systematically analyzed her translation,summarized the experience and deficiency,and improved her own ability while provided some reference to the future work.
