Since China's reform and opening up,many Chinese enterprises have gone abroad. However, due to the differences between domestic and foreign business models, the composition or publication of annual reports will also be different, thus the learning and analysis of foreign well-known enterprises' annual report are of great significance for domestic enterprises to enter the global market. In the process of translation practice, the translator found that long sentences are of high frequency in Caltex 2015 annual report. In addition, these long sentences with complex structures and rigorous logic are very difficult to translate properly. Therefore,in order to better convey the effect of company's annual report, its translation must be performed by taking into consideration the characteristics of long sentences, accurately understanding the function of each part and the relationship of each other, finding regularities and ways to provide a help to the translation of other overseas financial institution's annual reports.According to Newmark's different text classification in terms of language features,Caltex 2015 annual report belongs to scientific report texts, and its translation is mainly guided with the Skopos theory. In the selected text, long sentences take up a large proportion. For this reason,in the translation process the translator tried a variety of translation methods to deal with long sentences and has confirmed the validity of functional equivalence theory. But the translator also found that Nida's statements on the translation of long sentences mainly address the problems of western languages, and some of the contents are not suitable for Chinese. So the translator bases this research on Caltex 2015 annual report, focusing on the analysis of the English-Chinese translation methods of long sentences, summing up 6 steps in the translation process——retrench the backbone, discriminate the meaning, distinct the master-slave,clear the level, adjust the collocation and determine the intention,in an attempt to contribute something to the practical translation methods, and making the theory more extensively and of universally applicable in translating.
