A Reflective Research Report On The E-C Translation Of Boral Limited Annual Report 2013

This report is based on Boral Limited Annual Report 2013. Having gone through the whole process of translating the annual report, the translator has better acquainted with the contents of the report and well experienced, therefore the translator set out to do some research work of translation. The text comes from the company’s official website. Its style is of a summary report. Based on the original annual report and the translator’s translation and a comparison between the two, the translator studied through this research report some translation theories and some chosen sentences from the text and the translator also came to know how they are related in the hope of finding some general translation method for translating business summary reports,which could be applied for later translation of similar documents. In the course, the translator focus has been on the problems that people often run into when they do translation. The translator also wanted to find some principles, strategies, approaches and skills that other translators could refer to in their practice of translation later on when there is such a need. The main methods of the translation are literature survey,conceptual analysis, and comparative research. In reading materials in the reference supplements and literature, the translator found that the relevant translation principles,strategies, methods and skills are extremely important. Besides the skills in translation, knowledge in the line of building materials as well as some comparison between cultures is also highly necessary for the translator. They are guarantee of good quality of the translator’s translation.
