This thesis is a practice report based on E-C translation of Introduction to Unilever from Unilever's official website.As one of the Fortune 500 companies in the world,Unilever is the biggest company engaging in producing household products.However,in its official website,the absence of Chinese profile has made more Chinese consumers be lack of deep acknowledgment of the company which brings more difficulties for its development in China and its products stepping into Chinese market.Even it has Chinese official website,it is lack of the introduction of the products and strategies of the company.Therefore,the translator translates the English version of Unilever's official website into Chinese version in hopes of making more consumers familiar with Unilever's products.As we all know,there are many divergences in expression,thinking model and cultural background between Chinese and English which will bring more confusions for translators.On the basis of this translation practice,there are many ambiguous information,passive sentences,long sentences which bring more obstacles for translator.Skopos theory includes skopos rule,fidelity rule and coherence rule and they can tackle the above problems respectively.In brief,all efforts above are conducted to explore the feasibility and availability of expressions for conveying effective information.Through this translation practice,the translator can obtain more translation knowledge and also can improve her ability in translation.And the practice report can bring more convenience for other translators who want to translate foreign company profiles and the Chinese version of Unilever Company can convey more effective information and attract more consumers.
