This report attempts to apply Nida's functional equivalence theory to analyze the translation process of the Agreement for the Prduction and Commissioning of Original Music and to summarize the translation procedures. The source text(ST)has the features of the legal texts and scientific texts. When it comes to selecting words, the report puts emphasis on its professionalism. The statements of the source text are professional with rigorous and formal expressions. The sentences of the source text are very complex.According to Nida's functional equivalence theory, lexical equivalence, syntactic equivalence, textual equivalence and stylistic equivalence are four aspects of dynamic equivalence. This report focuses on the guiding role of Nida's functional equivalence theory in the translation of business contracts. To begin with, the author analyzed the text-type of this project. Then,in terms of this translation project, the author elaborated the guiding role of functional equivalence at lexical level, syntactic level, and textual level. The application of different translation strategies and methods will make the target readers have the same reaction on the target text(TT)as the source text readers. The paper also discusses the differences between English expressions and Chinese expressions in terms of words and sentences. The translator attempts to use varies ways to convey the source text information, such as the literal translation, free translation, additional translation, omission and other translation strategies. The usage of translation methods and strategies can ensure that the target text is acceptable for the user. The translation report consists of five parts:The first part focuses on elaborating some detailed information about the translation project. The second part puts emphasis on the preparations work before translation. The third part mainly contains the introduction of the functional equivalence theory and the exploration of the guidance of functional equivalence theory in the translation practice. The fourth part is the case study under the functional equivalence theory, showing how to analyze the given examples from the lexical level, syntactic level and textual level. The fifth part summarizes the findings and limitations of the translator's experience.
