An English-Chinese Translation Report On Short Form Agreement For Placement Services

On the basis of the requirements of MTI graduation thesis,the translation practice report mode is chosen by the author to finish the thesis.The translation material is the business contract manuscript received by the translator from the internship company during the part-time translation of the translator.It is a concise agreement of the US Flowserve company on the placement service.The scores include the rights and obligations of the supplier and its parties,the indemnity clause,the insurance regulations and the guidelines for the employment of temporary staff,the fees and prices,and the criteria and fees for hiring permanent personnel,totaling more than 11,000 words.And the content of some of the agreements in this report is translated as text.This section of the translation practice belongs to the scope of commercial contracts and is signed in economic and technical cooperation and exchange activities among enterprises to clarify the rights and obligations and intentions of the two parties.It is an agreement reached by both parties or units on a certain economic activity.At present,due to the uneven level of translators,there are still many problems in business contract translations,such as missing translation and mistranslation and so on.The translation effect is not ideal,and there is also the risk of economic loss for business activities.Contracts generally involve the economic interests of all parties,so its translations need to be with high quality.The purpose of this translation report is to better ensure the economic benefits of Flowserve and to provide a wealth of practical experience in the translation of business contracts.This thesis introduces the basic situation of the project,including the source,basic content,significance of the project and the overall framework structure of the translation project.Then the theoretical basis of the project and the overall textual characteristics of the business contract are analyzed while its wording,sentence and language are also pointed out.The next step is to analyze the translation of raw materials;then in the post-translation analysis chapter,the author combines the key points and difficulties in the translation process to analyze and summarize the corresponding solutions and translation strategies.The main theory adopted by the author is derived from the functional equivalence theory proposed by Eugene Nida.On this basis,the thesis mainly analyzes the case at the lexical level,syntactic level and discourse level,and combines examples to summarize the translation strategies that can serve the translator,and to improve the translation efficiency and translation quality to some extent.
