The Sunshine You have not Missed originated from Macao Literature Series, which embodies supreme adoring and respect to Macao Literature. As far as Macao is concerned, this series is the first and foremost comprehensive summary and embodiment since Macao's return. For China, the series can be perceived as a kaleidoscope through which writers in mainland and Macao as well as readers are able to understand and know more each other. The Sunshine You have not Missed is insights and experience the writer has personally encountered. Her plain words are like a stream running in the metropolitan.The reflections distilled from her life give us aesthetic perceptions, seemingly inattentive words corroborate the very emotions the writer wants to convey. In a whole, this book is a diversely compatible works. To translate it successfully,translation aesthetic theory plays a vital role in the process.Any science is built on some field of study. Translation is defined as an action of rendering one language into another. Translation aesthetics as a branch of translation revealing the aesthetic origin with translation, studies the basic principle of aesthetic activities and the aesthetic problems in inter-lingual translation. The person engaged in literary translation is required to master solid English language knowledge, to cultivate a good aesthetic taste, and to follow the flexible conversion of rhythm, vocabulary, syntax and image and other aesthetic constitutions.Chinese literary translation is influenced by traditional cultural aesthetics."embellishment"(?)and "nature"(?)unify coordination of literary and artistic creation into the content and form, and reflects the fundamental issues on the aesthetic rules and aesthetic standard. Yan Fu Proposed the principle of faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance as the translation aesthetic standard. Liu Miqing's An Introduction to Translation and Aesthetics (1995) reveals the aesthetic origin of translation, which established the basic framework of modern aesthetic translation. We can see it could open a new way to research of modern Chinese aesthetic translation.This thesis is mainly guided by the basic framework of Liu Miqing's aesthetic translation theory, and completes the translation practice of the English translation of The Sunshine You have not Missed, The typical examples from the translation practice are used to explore the representation of formal and content beauty. This thesis summarizes the task background and significance of the translation task, reviews the preparation of the translation, and records the author's translation process and reviewing.This thesis introduces the origin and development of Chinese and Western aesthetic translation, the standard of aesthetic and the means of aesthetic reproduction. The author makes comparisons between Fu Zhongxuan and Liu Miqing's perspectives on aesthetic translation, and concludes out two graphs clearly.Under the guidance of Liu Miqing's aesthetic translation theory, the thesis analyzes the formal and non-formal systems of translation aesthetic object in terms of beat(rhythm), words diction (vocabulary) and sentences (syntax), artistic conception and image through analyzing specific examples. In order to represent the beauty of aesthetic translation object, the author used different translation strategies: literal translation, free translation and their interchangeably.Finally, the author reviews and summarizes the experience of the translation practice,and then recognizes the attainment and shortage of the study. It is hoped that this study would provide some reference for the translation of other works in Macao Literature Series.
