The use of Chinese songs to promote Chinese learning is gaining more and more recognition.A large number of experts and Chinese teachers have confirmed the feasibility of song teaching both in theory and practice.In order to confirm the positive impact of song teaching in Chinese learning,this paper carried out the song teaching method in Chinese language teaching,taking 20 high school students of the United States from NSLI-Y(The National Security Language Initiative for Youth)Summer Camp as the research object based on the theory of multiple intelligence and audio-visual teaching theory.The writer taught two songs Jasmine Flower and Manual of Youth in the program.The former is a Chinese traditional song and the latter is Chinese contemporary pop song.After teaching the two different songs and doing questionnaire,this paper draws the following conclusion:Chinese song teaching can improve Chinese learning interest,help the learner to understand the Chinese culture,and to remember the new words and sentences.Chinese song teaching can create a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere for learners,reduce their negative emotions and affective filter barriers.These are beneficial to input Chinese material,and help learners to receive knowledge.In the process of learning Chinese songs students could study a variety of language materials and obtained many aspects of language ability.The real and specific song learning situation can stimulate learning motivation,reinforce interest and enthusiasm of learning Chinese.In addition,on the basis of teaching practice problems and questionnaire,the author also put forwards some suggestions of Chinese song teaching in summer camp,hoping these will be useful in later teaching and researching.
