A Report On The Translation Of Ningxia Government Work Report(2016)under The Guidance Of Functional Equivalence Theory

With the continuous improvement of China's international status and the deepening of its foreign communication,the translation of political text plays an increasingly significant role in promoting China's economic development and improving its influence.Besides,considering that Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory has extremely profound in:fluence on translation studies in both China and the world,it guides the study in aspects of translation practice.Therefore,based on this theory,the author of this report analyzes the contents and characteristics of Ningxia Government Work Report(2016)and makes a translation from Chinese to English.Finally,she discusses the problems existing in the translation process and writes this practice report,combining with the previous translation methods and strategies.This report is divided into six chapters:In Chapter One,the author of this report briefly introduces the translation task.In Chapter Two,she gives the brief description of the translation process,including pre-translation,translation and post-translation.Chapter Three and Chapter Four are about translation theory and literature review respectively.The author of this report makes a brief introduction to Functional Equivalence Theory and the significance of adopting this theory in translation,and reviews the development of this theory and the translation of the Government Work Reporit.As a key part of this translation report,Chapter Five mainly analyzes in detail how to use semantic selection,adding a subject,reference and other translation methods to achieve functional equivalence at the lexical,syntactic and textual level in the translation process.Chapter Six is conclusion.In this part,the author of this report summarizes this translation report and points out the practical significance and limitations of this study,aiming to provide reference for the future translation practice of the same type of text and trying to inspire more readers to use the western translation theory to guide the translation of Chinese government documents.
