The translator chose The Lie Tree,written by Frances Hardinge,first published in May,2015,as the source text.This novel tells a fantasy story happened in Vitoria Time,by giving an account of Faith's finding a magic tree,the lie tree,after her father's death.On hearing people's lies,the tree bears fruits.The more lies it hears,the bigger fruit it bears,the more truth is found.Faith lies to the tree and finds the cause of her father's death and a lot of other incredible truths,but she falls into the abyss of lies.The selected parts of the novel mainly tell the finding process of the lie tree and create the most suspenseful atmosphere,which also is the climax of the whole novel.In recent years,an increasing number of translation works of foreign children's literature have appeared in China.Translating children's literature is different from translating other genres of literary as special attention should be paid to children's special reading basis,reading psychology and reading expectation.In order to achieve“equivalence effect”,the translator conducts her translation under the specific guidance of Nida's “Functional Equivalence Theory”,which greatly emphasizes the equivalence in meaning of the source text and the target text rather than the equivalence of language form.So this translation report analyzes the specific use and guidance in the detailed examples of children literature's translation from the microscopic perspective,not from macro perspective.This thesis concretely elucidates the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory in the children's literature translation through lexical level,syntactical level and rhetorical level processing with specific cases.Specifically speaking,it contains the use of colloquialism,reduplicated words and idioms.In addition,it contains the dealing of sentence patterns and the rhetorical devices in the translation.
