Report On Telephone Interpreting Project Of G20 Hangzhou Summit Multilingual Emergency Service Platform

With the development of economy and related technology, telephone interpreting, as one kind of interpreting, has already been used more and more widely, especially in the large-scale events or conferences. In September 2016, the G20 summit was held in Hangzhou. In order to help foreign guests with a variety of affairs in Hangzhou and assist the summit to develop smoothly, Hangzhou government set up multilingual emergency service platform telephone interpreting project. The reporter participated in the project from August to September as an English interpreter. This report will use literature research,corpus analysis and other methods to carry out research on the project, and give a brief introduction to the project and its completion. It will summarize the difficulties and obstacles encountered during the process of telephone interpreting, such as accent problems and vocabulary problems, and find out the appropriate measures. The report will analyze features of telephone interpreting including non-verbal information, the use of fixed words and phrases, the efficiency of the telephone interpreting, and put forward the solutions. The report will also have some information about platforms and companies that can provide telephone interpreting service in China. Finally, the report will try to find some way to improve the quality of China's telephone interpreting industry and promote the development of telephone interpreting from the platform and companies and the quality of the interpreter.
