E-C Translation Of The Definitions Of Frame Names And FEs In FrameNet

This paper is a translation practice report on Chinese FrameNet(CFN)translation project.Chinese FrameNet is based on the facts of Chinese corpus and used for the computer recognition.CFN text is rich in content and covers many aspects of the natural and social sciences.From the text type,CFN text mostly belongs to the information text.In terms of vocabulary,professional terms mainly appear in the core frame elements and non-core frame elements.These technical terms are the basic elements of understanding the content of frames.In accordance with The Table of FE Name and Abbreviation,the terms are translated in a standardized way.These terms appear repeatedly in the CFN text,so their usage is more fixed.In terms of sentences,the sentence structure is complex.There are many nominal structures,and the passive voice is often used,which makes the text style very formal.Thus,the translation of CFN texts is a very demanding job.Translation of CFN text includes:translation of terms,definitions and examples.This article discusses the translation of definitions.The author completed English-Chinese translation of 92 frames(a total of 50,000 words),and marked 81 sentences of CFN Chinese examples.Based on the text type theory,the problems in the process of translation practice are discussed.This translation practice report is divided into four parts.The first part is the task description,and describes the background of CFN,and theoretical basis.The second part is the task process,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and quality review.The third part first introduces the text type theory of Katharina Reiss' s,analyzes the characteristics of CFN text,and discusses the problems encountered in translation.This article divides the definitions into two broad categories: the definition of the Frame names and the definition of the frame elements.Among them,the definition ofthe frame elements are subdivided into phrase-type FE definitions and sentence-type FE definitions.The last part is a summary of the translation practice report,including the author of the translation practice experience.
