The application of picture teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language(TCFL)is very extensive,but there has not been made a systematic discussion on the role of pictures so far.The comprehensive course of TCFL is the basic course as well as the main course and its teaching objective is to cultivate students' listening,speaking,reading and writing skills and cross-cultural communication ability.The advantage of picture teaching is that it can display vocabulary,grammar and text more vividly and create a certain situation pattern to enable foreign students to learn Chinese knowledge immersively.Pictures make the abstract and obscure language elements become vivid and concrete,which is in line with the characteristics and requirements of elementary Chinese learners,for pictures are easy to understand and it can meet the needs of life and communication as soon as possible.This paper tries to analyze the advantages and shortcomings in TCFL according to the basic theory and principles of picture teaching by combining with the examples in "Chinese Conversation 301" and the author's experience of teaching practice in the targeted teaching design on the aspects of word,grammar,text and exercises in Bo'ai international school of Xi'an and put forward concrete measures and improved conception so as to better implement TCFL.This thesis consists of five parts,each of which is as follows:The first chapter is the introduction part,it mainly introduces the background,purpose,research value,literature review,research method and innovation of this thesis.The second chapter is about the related concepts,the theoretical basis and basic principles of the picture teaching,and it discusses the advantages of the combination of pictures and the Chinese classroom teaching from the aspects of listening,speaking,reading and writing.The third chapter is an overview of TCFL in Bo'ai international school and the analysis of the textbook of "Chinese conversation 301",and make specific courseware design on words,grammar,texts and exercises,and then teaching reflection.The fourth chapter is on the problems in the process of picture teaching and some suggestions.The last part is the conclusion,it summarizes the thesis,sorts out the harvest and shortcomings the author has in the teaching design process and put forward the improvement solutions.
