The book Encyclopedia of Social and Cultural Anthropology edited by professor of anthropology Alan Barnard and a British social anthropologist Jonathan Spencer.The report on the translation is based on the excerpt of Anthropological objects.The chapter mainly discusses the culture created by various ethnic groups and analyzes all kinds of social phenomena to reveal the essence of human culture.It also introduces a lot of anthropological pioneers,for example,Radcliffe-Brown.The chapter includes nationalism,society,individualism and holism,state,functionalism and structure-functionalism and postmodernism.By choosing this text as translation task,the translator hopes that the results of this translation task can help Chinese readers to learn important concepts and development process of social and cultural anthropology in western society.Therefore,the report takes the translation of cultural anthropological materials as an example and combines with the theory of German functional translation to discuss the translation strategies in the translation of cultural anthropology.The translation of such an information text has an effect on the translator,which contributes to deepen her understanding of Skopos Theory as well as improving her translation skill.The report is written according to this translation task.The report on the translation is divided into five parts.The first part is introduction,which tells definition,development and meaning of social and cultural anthropology.Part two describes the translation task,which includes objective and meaning of the task,and the structure of report.Part three is description of the translation process,which includes main contain,text type and linguistic features of the source text,and translation theory.Part four is case analysis,which discusses the difficulties in translating and the use of translation strategies and translation methods combined with typical cases.Part five is the summary,which mainly concludes the lessons and problems.
