A Report On The Translation Of Biographical Text The Life Of Riley

With the development of globalization,the exchange of domestic and foreign biographical literature continues to develop.However,there are few biographical texts translated into Chinese among many translated works.In addition,people have raised questions relating to the quality of these translated texts.Hot debate about certain biographical translated versions has triggered a new area of interest for Chinese translators.Biographical text translation is an important tool for the further enhancement of cultural understanding and the preparation of high quality translated works is therefore paramount.For biography translators,authenticity is required and thus the characters' life experiences,spiritual outlooks and historical backgrounds should be detailed using the visualization approach.This authenticity,as well as the employment of similar literary devices to that of the original biographical text,utilizes the Principle of Faithfulness and Smoothness,treating The Life of Riley thus as a research object.By analyzing case studies from translation practice,several translation strategies,including amplification,conversion,omission,shift,inversion,negation and the change of the voices will be studied,utilizing aspects of lexicon and syntax in the translation report.The primary purpose is to look for appropriate translation strategies which can both ensure the authenticity of the biographical text,but,at the same time,preserve the style of source text,as well as provide references and guidance for other translators of biographical texts.
