Published in 2011,The Gendered Society is written by Michael Kimmel specializing in gender research. The book which gives people the view of the gendered society and the reasons behind is recommended by our supervisor and chapters Nine and Ten are translated by the translator.Chapter 9,“Separate and Unequal the Gendered World of Work”,introduces the separation, inequalities, sexual harassment in work and the remedies for workplace inequity. It involves “glass ceiling” problems for women(and men)when they get into the typical work place with possible sexual harassment.Chapter 10,“The Gendered Media”,deals with the phenomenon of the gendered media and its reasons. The translation is based on Typology theory put forward by Peter Newmark. The Gendered Society is an informative text.So the translation strategy adopted is communicative translation, supplemented by semantic translation. This translation practice report consists of six parts: the introduction of translation project, the introduction of source text, the process of translation, the theoretical framework, the case analysis and translation summary.
