Vocabulary System Analyzes Of The Archives Of Baxian County In Qianlong Period

Archives of Baxian County is the judicial archives of Baxian county in Qing dynasty.It represents the history of Baxian County,regulations released by the state and declaration between other counties,involving the Baxian County's history so far as to the whole nation's.The archives serves as the corpus as modern Chinese evolves into contemporary Chinese,providing plenty of material for Chinese diachronic vocabulary study.The article intends to investigate the Archives of Baxian county in Qianlong period and Archives of Baxian county in Qianlong&Jiaqing period and briefly analyze its vocabulary system.The introduction summarizes all the research related to the archives and divides them into 7 parts according to their subjects which are not concerned with language.Baxian Archives serves as the corpus for transitional modern Chinese and is very important for language study.So the second part of the article briefs some new words and meanings which occur in the archives.While the texts and meaning are listed and explained,same words in other coetaneous literature are also used as evidence to prove that those words and meaning precede the Grand Chinese dictionary records.Some words of similar meaning occurring in the archives can be classified into indecency/neighbor semantic field,whose study constitutes the third part of the article.The third part investigate and explain the diachrony and synchrony of the words respectively.The fourth part of the article is based on the fact that Baxian archives is a both local and judicial document and investigate the archives from a language viewpoint.Baxian county is the primary level of Qing dynasty in case processing,and county magistrate appellations often appear in the archives whose words constitute the same semantic field.Word and meaning display different semantic meaning in the appellations and apart from some neutral words,most of the words are positive which reflects social situation at that time.Baxian Archives contains about 50 kinds of judicial documents which enrich the judicial words at that time and divide words into spoken ones and written ones.This article further explain the words with suffix of Zi.
