This report is based on an interpreting practice conducted by the author.On May11 th,delegation from the MacEwan University in Canada visited the library of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies(GDUFS)and had discussion with librarians there.The author provided both C-E and E-C interpreting service to the speakers attending this discussion.The duration of this interpreting task lasts about 80 minutes.In this report,the author gives a general introduction to this interpreting task,including the introduction to the client and interpreter himself.Then the author gives a specific description of the interpreting process,including the pre-task perpetration,on-site interpreting process,difficulties encountered and the feedback from the client.Based on the transcript of this interpreting,the author carried out cases analysis based on those difficulties encountered from the perspective of Skopos Theory.With the analysis to this interpreting task,on the one hand,the author wants to improve his own interpreting competence.On the other hand,the author also wants other interpreters to have a better understand of the role of Skopos Theory in consecutive interpreting.All interpreters should take corresponding tactics to cope with difficulties we meet so as to improve the quality and efficiency of our interpreting service.
