A Report On Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of The Parallel Session Of 2022 ECOSOC Youth Forum

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years,various forums,conferences and discussions in the international community have been held online to ensure the conveyance of people’s ideas to promote the development of our world with the help of science and technology even if they are in different locations around the world and speak different languages.At the same time,interpreters must rise to the new challenges and act in response to such a difficult situation which is new to them.This report is an analysis of the author’s simulated consecutive interpreting of “A Parallel Session of 2022 ECOSOC Youth Forum”.In this report,the author focuses on the challenges in the interpreting process and the author’s coping tactics.The author also summarizes the development of the Interpretive Theory and its application in the interpreting.The main part of this paper is case analysis.In this part,the whole interpreting task is analyzed,including those challenges during interpreting relating to linguistic knowledge and extra-linguistic knowledge.And reasonable tactics are given,such as omission,generalization,explanation,and so on.This paper also makes a conclusion of the simulated interpreting task,in which the major findings and limitations of the task are given.The author now knows better about the activity of interpreting in a complex online forum.It is hoped that the author can further summarize the interpreting difficulties and enrich the corresponding tactics and this report will be helpful to others to some extent.
