Edward Grieg(1843-1907)is a Norwegian composer,pianist,and one representative of the nineteenth Century European romantic nationalism in music.In the Nineteenth Century romanticism was rampant in Europe,and the national independence movement was developing quickly in Norway.Motived by these,Grieg displayed Norwegian music on the world stage based on Rikard Nordraak and Ole Bull.Grieg's works contain rich national style of Norway,from which people can always feel the forests,glaciers,fjords and others of scandinavia peninsula.Furthermore,he composed the piano music on the basis of ancient myths and legends,and folk daily life in Norway,which makes that his works are widely welcomed.This paper studies The Wedding Day of Troldhaugen by Grieg' Lyric Pieces,including its musical features and performance analysis.The full text is divided into five chapters.Chapter 1 gives a brief introduction of Grieg's life,artistic achievement and the creation background of The Wedding Day of Troldhaugen.The structure of its musical form is analyzed in Chapter 2 Chapter 3 describes its national characteristics by the subject content,rhythm,mode,tonality,fifth harmonic interval and continuous interval.Chapter 4 is about grasping the skill and style of the work.The different interpretations,understandings and evaluations by interpretations of different performers are showed in Chapter 5.We can understand Grieg' music style and writing technique more comprehensively through the study of this work,which has certain theoretical complement and certain guiding significance when playing Greig' works in the future.
