Tai Chi,as one of the most important martial arts, has spanned for over 300 years. At present, many Chinese scholars have done a lot of research on Tai Chi,and their research results are mostly presented in the form of research papers. In order to promote the spread of Tai Chi around the world, the translation of Tai Chi research papers is of significant importance. This translation report, based on the author's C-E translation of three pieces of Tai Chi research papers, aims to provide tentative solutions to the common difficulties in translating such research papers.During the translation of Tai Chi research papers, the author finds it difficult to translate Tai Chi terms, connected four-character phrases and Chinese run-on sentences. To solve these difficulties, the author summarized different translation methods respectively in the form of a case study based on the Recoding Theory of Translation from the perspective of communication.Accordingly,Tai Chi terms can be translated by the methods of literal translation, transliteration with annotation and replacement;the connected four-character phrases can be translated by a comprehensive method, under which the phrases are usually translated into a word or a phrase;Chinese run-on sentences can be translated by the methods of division, reorganization and syntactic linearity. This translation report may serve as a reference for translating TaijiChian research papers,so as to promote the spread of the TaijiChian in the world, and advance the soft strength of China.
