Historical and cultural texts have their own features,which may contain innumerable historical and cultural information.The translation will not carry the profound meaning to readers if translators do not deliberate on the true intention of writers.The thesis,based on the translation of Chapter Three of A Study on Diary of Jinyufu—Master in the Northeast Historical Circle,discusses how to solve the problems of translating four-character phrases and historical book titles.No matter what kind of translation strategy translators choose,they must pay attention to the context and analyze the pragmatic meaning in translation to achieve the equivalence between the structure and the meaning.Besides,Chinese complex sentences are frequently used in the chosen source text.The thesis analyses inner structural relationship of those sentences and then concludes some translation techniques that are conducive to translation.In conclusion,the thesis illustrates the problem-solving procedures during author's translation and puts forward some techniques to tackle these problems.By doing so,author expects it can help other translators to cope with the same problems when they face the similar translation source texts.
