This thesis,a translation report,consists of five parts: task description,pre-translation preparation,translation implementation,case analysis and summary.The source text "Just a Tool: Instructors' Attitudes and Use of Course Management Systems for Online Writing Instruction",published in issue 48 of Computers and Composition,introduces the use of digital tools in online education and teachers' attitudes.The source text is an academic paper,which is concise and accurate in vocabulary with frequent use of nominalization and technical terms.The sentence is usually long in length and complex in structure because a lot of parenthesis and clauses are employed.Combining with the characteristics of the text,this thesis focuses on analyzing the translation techniques of technical terms,nominalization and long sentences in academic papers.Through this analytical report and translation practice,We hope to provide some reference for translators who undertake similar translation commission and contributing to the research and development of online instruction in China.
