A Report On The Translation Practice Of Temptations Of Power : The United States In Global Politics After 9/11

This translation practice report is selected from the book named Temptations of Power : the United States in Global Politics After 9/11,which introduce the new security dilemma faced by the United States after 9/11 and the new attempt made by the government.The Bush government tried to convert the condition by changing its domestic and foreign policies.For this reason,the diplomatic relations between the US and other countries changed correspondently.Thus,more and more countries attach importance of national security,terrorism and international cooperation.The adjustment of international configuration made all the countries and regions connect more and more intensely and develop in all-round and areas.In addition,new challenges,wars and terrorism are also mentioned in this work.In the guidance of Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory,which focuses on the function of the translation,the writer of this report analyzed her translation,aiming to use the theory into practice and making the translation more equally to the original text.There are six parts of this report: the reason of translation,translation task,translation procedure,translation theory,examples and conclusion.First of all,the writer makes a brief introduction of the background information,the significant of translation,the content of the book and its features,the key and difficult points,as well as the guidance theory----Eugene Nida's functional equivalence translation theory.Then,it comes to the analysis of examples.Combined the theory and the commonly used methods together,the writer analyzed the crucial words,sentences and discourses in the work.At last,the writer concluded the whole translation practice and made a conclusion,hoping to give some reference to other translators in translating the relative materials.
