Since the 1990 s,Japan has shown a new feature in the film shooting, that is,a perfect combination of violence and lyrical realization.Based on that trend,a large number of films emerged and brought a new situation to Japanese film production.Japanese national character has been commented that: “they present an extreme conflict character due to the long-term experience of psychological brutality and physical abuse. They show a great patience with humiliate and obscurity at the beginning, but once it comes to the limit of endurance they will lose their senses totally with extremely sudden and swift. That is the result of the national character. This new style has been given full expression in the works of the famous Japanese film director Kitano Takeshi which gave audience a strong impact on mind and made them enjoy the violence and lyrical realization in one work.Kitano Takeshi's early work Violent Cop had showed a new style of aestheticization of violence. And in his surrealist autobiographical series Takeshis',Glory to the Filmmaker! Achilles and the Tortoise, the abstraction and absurdity were showed incisively and vividly that made the film audience imagine and comprehend the difference between reality and fiction. This autobiographical series have also been the symbol of the beginning of Kitano's expressionism ideas.Expressionism was a modernist movement, initially in poetry and painting, originating in Europe at the beginning of the 20 th century.Expressionist artists sought to express the meaning of emotional experience rather than physical reality.Artistic style in which the artist seeks to depict not objective reality but rather the subjective emotions and responses that objects and events arouse within a person. Its typical trait is to present the world solely from a subjective perspective, distorting it radically for emotional effect in order to evoke moods orideas. So,expressionist artists praise highly on breaking through the objective existence, and deny pomposity and nihility. They believe that the technique of expression is more real and more powerful.Expressionist artists often employed swirling, swaying, and exaggeratedly executed brushstrokes in the depiction of their subjects. These techniques were meant to convey the turgid emotional state of the artist reacting to the anxieties of the modern world.Consequently, unique aesthetic style was formed. In this paper, the author attempts to use this unique expressionist approach to analyze and explain Kitano's surrealist autobiographical trilogy, thus make a more profound discussion on Kitano's creative style and long art career. In the study of the film world,to express is an eternal subject and need intense research and thought. In his long career,Kitano Takeshi constantly break himself, reflect and relocate his creative techniques artistic expression. In this field,he can be the role model to the filmmaker both at home and abroad. In this paper, the author tries to do a deep interpretation and analyzation on Kitano's surrealist autobiographical trilogy from micro-perspective and related logic, hoping to discovery more valuable experience and skills from director Kitano, and form a unitary system for our film successors. From this respect, this research can be seen as both enriching the research materials about Kitano Takeshi and a new extension to the theory of expressionism aesthetics. At the same time, the author hope this study broaches the subject and might bring a new perspective for expressionism.
