Takeshi Kitano is one of the most famous Japanese directors in 80 s.The thesis tried to take Takeshi Kitano's films as the research objects,analyzing the aesthetics of violence of the films,and investigating the sublime created by the films and explore the success behind it,from the unique characteristics,the narrative style and the theme of death and so on.In the first part of the thesis,pointing emphatically out the unique characteristics of the films that directed by Takeshi Kitano so that the profound meaning that conveyed by the violent images can by highlighted.Excepting for irritating sense organs,Takeshi's films play an increasingly important role in reflecting the life,revealing philosophy,and expressing significance.In the second part of the thesis,the main thing is analyzing the narrative style of the films,which named reconstructive narrative.The film's unique narrative style gives the audience a wonderful experience that they feel from depressive to fulminant,from fear to joviality,and finally the stirring sublime come into being.In the last part of the thesis,generalizing aesthetic values of the sublime which that's films have its inherent death pattern.As the tragedy of death,Takeshi's films have undisputed aesthetic effects.Death in the movie is an expression forms that trying to explain the meaning of lives,and reveal the cultural concepts.The protagonists' brave and dignity as well as the Bushido spirits are perfectly showed with the director's unique perspective which revealing the lofty values of transcending the death.In the meantime,the author will further introspect the missing of the sublime affected by the post-modern society,and provide the suggestions for the development of the semi-sublime films.
