A Report On The Translation Of 2016 Mckesson Annual Report

Annual report is an important way for information release,which allows potential cooperators and investors at home and abroad to know about the businesses,managements,financial positions,risks and challenges of the target company.Mckesson is a multinational corporation in pharmaceutical industry with a subsidiary in China.A Chinese company in the same industry plans to cooperate with and invest in the corporation in the future.Therefore,a Chinese version of 2016 Mckesson Annual Report is needed for the internal reference.The annual report is an informative text.Under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalence theory,the major focus of the translation is the content.Based on the theory and purpose,natural translation is chosen as the translation strategy.To render a closest natural equivalent translation,this report mainly deals with the equivalence at lexical,syntactical and contextual levels.As to lexical level,terms with readily available parallels are borrowed,and adaptation adopted to make the translation more natural and comprehensible.As to syntactical and contextual levels,conversion,reconstruction,reference and substitution are used to make the translation coherent.This report is divided into four chapters.Task description mainly introduces the basic information of this translation task,the initiator and the purpose of the task and the significance and objective of this report.Process description deals with the pre-translation preparation,translation theory,the whole process of translation and post-translation management.Case study focuses on the application of translation techniques and the combination of the theory and the translation practice.Conclusion summarizes the whole report about the major findings and limitations in the translation,and offers some suggestions for students and translators in the future.
