International trade has already promoted the development of business English.Business English,as one branch of the English for the specific purposes,plays an important role in international trade communications.Business English course-books,as one of the main media,introduce the business knowledge for the promotion of international trade activities.And translating the business English course-books assists the Chinese students who study abroad but with poor English in understanding the professional business knowledge better.Translating business teaching texts,the same as translating texts of other types,is a process to use the accurate and proper target language to transfer the information of source text.The translation process not only includes many professional words and sentences in business but also since it serves as a teaching textbook how to use simple words to express the original information is a challenge to the translator.The translation project is an excerpt(first two chapters of Unit 1)of Business and Management(2nd edition)wrote by Paul Hoang.The chapters in the translation project include the following contents: What business is;the input and output of a business;factors of the production;business functional departments;business activity in different sectors;companies and different kinds of organizations.With the guidance of Skopos Theory,the translator primarily studies some phenomena of business English teaching textbook such as polysemy,acronyms and compound words.And according to the three rules of Skopos Theory,the translator also analyzes the typical sentences so as to show the specific application of Skopos Theory in business translation.What's more,at the end of this report,the translator also summarizes gains and limitations from three aspects: firstly,the basic bilingual competence;secondly,abundant professional knowledge;thirdly,perfect combination of theory and practice.Meanwhile,the translator finds out her own shortcomings in professional business area and hopes to make greater progress in the future study.This translation project contains four parts: First of all,it is the introduction of the study introducing the purpose and significance of this translation project.Second part is a general introduction of the source text,such as the author and content,user range and its significance.Third part it mainly involves the translation theory and the words and sentences translation under the guidance of it.And fourth part is the conclusion which the writer summarizes the gains and limitation during the translation process.
