A Case-study On Omissions And Coping Strategy

This study focuses on,through case study,omissions arising from one of the author's escort and meeting interpreting work.Omissions are divided into various categories such as terminology and note-taking related omissions.Coping strategies are proposed accordingly,including how to make a good preparation,and how to write down notes that are simple,clear,logical and visual in image.Besides,this paper also underlines the importance to improve the requisite competences as an interpreter,from the perspectives of constructing knowledge schemata,broadening knowledge base,as well as enhancing bilingual competency.This paper shows that the cultivation of linguistic and extra-linguistic qualities is essential when processing continuous flows of information in interpretation.Suggestions provided in this paper may be of some help for interpretation learners who also encounter this kind of problem.
