A Report On C-E Translation Of Communication Engineering Documents

The rapid development of Chinese communication engineering calls for appropriate written materials provided by translators,in favor of international engineers.Therefore,the translation of communication engineering documents is of great importance.This report is based on the translator's internship in Huawei Translation Center.Under the guidance of Translation-oriented Text Analysis Model,the report takes GSM Multi-Sector Solution Reconstruction Guide as the sample text,and analyzes the extratextual and intratextual factors of the document.Later,translation problems encountered by the translator are categorized into extratextual-level problems including lack of localization awareness and ignorance of different thought patterns,and intratextual-level problems including mistranslation of terms,incorrect syntactic structures and inappropriate information composition.Furthermore,on the basis of abundant authentic examples extracted from the translation tasks,the report analyzes the source texts,original target texts and revised versions.The analysis coupled with the trans-writing principles upheld in the Corporate Manual of Style of the Center helps the author summarize corresponding solutions to preceding translation problems.It is proved that Translation-oriented Text Analysis Model is a feasible perspective for the translation of communication engineering documents.Besides,the principles of technical writing can be used to solve translation problems during practice.It is expected that the report will shed some light on the C-E translation of communication engineering documents and provide references to translators who engage in communication engineering document translation in the future.
