As the technical communication industry grows rapidly in tandem with the Internet industry,more and more technical documents access to the translation market which enriches the type of translation materials,bringing more challenges to translators.The translation material of this report is a communication protocol which is a typical technical document.Therefore,it will have some reference significance to the translation research of technical documents.First,this report briefly states the background of the topic,reviews the relevant researches at home and abroad and points out the objectives and significance of the translation.Next,the report describes the whole translation process from two aspects: initial preparations and quality control.The quality control process includes three phases: initial translation,review and proofreading.The initial preparations include formulating the style guide and glossary,collecting parallel texts and choosing the translation theory.Then,it analyzes the original text from the aspects of the target reader,text typology and the features of language and content.It also makes predictions of translation difficulties.When analyzing the text typology,the report utilizes Reiss' s Text Typology Theory and concludes that this material belongs to the informative texts.Therefore,translators should follow the principle of faithfulness and readability.Finally,the paper,from the perspectives of words,sentences and text structures,summarizes some translation methods and techniques including the changes of word formation and voice,addition and structural adjustment through various examples.This report is intended to provide reference for the latter relevant researches through analyses and summaries.
