This practice report is based on two C-E consecutive interpreting tasks accomplished by the author during her internship from March to August,2016 in Shanxi Second Construction Group Co.,Ltd.(SXSC).The first task is interpreting for Zimbabwean delegation at project quality control and management meeting. The second task is interpreting for Malaysian representatives at technical exchange meeting. After the first task, the author found three problems: misinterpreting, disfluency and information loss.According to Gile's Effort Models and comprehension equation, the cause of the problems is insufficiency of the interpreter'effort.Inadequacy of professional knowledge, fast delivery of speech, unclear utterance of the speaker, and high density of technical information are the triggers leading to insufficiency of effort.Hence,effort-saving strategies are proposed to reduce the interpreters' effort consumption, including accumulation of professional knowledge and on-site tactics, such as generalization, omission, explanation and extension of time. Finally, the strategies are applied in the second task and proved to be feasible. The author hopes the report can serve as references for entry-level interpreters participating in related practice and MTI students in their study and training.
