| The present practice report is accomplished on the basis of an interpreting practical activity in which the author took part,namely the First NCAA CORE Sino-US Bi-lingual Basketball Training Camp 2016.This activity was organized by Xinjiang Core Basketball Club,and invited 4 American basketball coaches who came to Urumqi to instruct and train basketball students.The author served as liaison-escort interpreter – airport pickup,hotel arrangement and liaison,and consecutive interpreter – on the opening ceremony of the training camp,in this activity.This report is composed of 5 parts,i.e.interpreting practice introduction,preparation before interpretation,guiding theory,interpreting cases study,as well as summary of lessons and experience.In the first part,the author introduced the background of the organizer,the main content of the activity and the author’s interpreting task;in the second part,the author talked about her preparation work in order to smoothly accomplish this task;the third part presented the guiding theory the author used to guide her interpreting-Translation Variation Theory systemized by Professor Huang Zhong Lian,the author introduced the origin,development process and translation methods of this theory;in the fourth part,the author cited some examples in her interpreting as cases study so as to prove the guiding effect of the theory on her interpreting practice.To be specific,four methods have been involved,i.e.addition,omission,paraphrase and comprehensive application;the fifth part mainly talked about the lessons and experience the author drew from this interpreting practice activity.Through serious reflection,the author analyzed the errors and imperfections in her interpreting in an objective way and thereby summarized her own experience.This practice report is a summary of the above-mentioned interpreting practice.The author hopes it can produce a little enlightening effect on other interpreting learners. |
