This report is based on the English version of the book Nation-Building,Identity and Citizenship Education:Cross-cultural Perspectives,charpter seven.According to the process of independent translation,the report finally came into being.The chief editor of the book is Doctor Joseph Zajda.And it was published by one of the world's largest presses Springer.There are totally twelve chapters designed in two parts.The first part mainly illustrates the main trends and problems in identity and citizen education while the second part describes the case study of six different countries.What's more,it is informative text with rich content,and analyzes various cultural phenomena among the relationships of identity,rights and society with unique perspectives.Chapter Seven of this book belongs to the second part,which discusses the issue of identity and Japanese citizenship education.The whole book is marked by strong scientificity,with strict logic and detailed data,and its great practical value.The whole report consists of six chapters,including the background of translation,the description of the translation task,the process of translation,the theoretical framework applied in the report,the analysis of translations of difficult sentence as well as a conclusion.Among all the chapters,Chapter Four is the backup of theory for translation.It mainly introduces Skopos theory of Vermeer.And the three principles of Skopos theory guides the way of this translation project.In addition,eight translation methods and techniques are applied,including back-translation,literal translation,free translation,extension,omission,amplification,binominal,and conversion.Chapter Five analyzes some key sentences by using different skills,which is the most important part in this report.It contains two sections,including the macro-level and micro-level.As for the macro-level,key words searching throughout the full text is the first step,and then using three principles of skopos theory is the way to guide the practice of translation.Skopos theory is the foundation of this translation practice,mainly focusing on the three principles.The problems of how to translate multi-culture as well as long difficult sentences and so on are dealt wit during the process of translation.Skopos theory is used to compare and analyze the difficult points.The vocabulary related to multi-culture is the Gordian knot.It is just like the trigger of domino,once solved,all will be solved easily.Therefore,this report aims at solving the problems of vocabulary.By combining translation theory with practice,the problems encountered during translation are solved creatively at last.
