Beyond Of Literature—a Study Of Zheng Zhenduo's Practice Of Art History

This paper mainly discusses Zheng Zhenduo's view of art history through analyzing his participation in the history of art.Zheng Zhenduo has a rich variety of works on art history.He not only published a large number of papers on art history,collected and published a lot of important catalogs,but also made great contribution China's cultural relics and museum studies.Some of his view of art history have offered important guidance for the development of China's culture and art.Therefore,an in-depth study of his view of art history is necessary.Before this study,most researches on Zheng Zhenduo were limited to the field of literature.The historian circle doesn't have enough knowledge about his art criticism,his art activities,his museums and other efforts related to art history.Zheng Zhenduo is not only active in the academic community;he also has many social relations and is involved in many social activities.Among these activities,Zheng Zhenduo's participation in the art history can be said to have promoted the development of national culture and art,and contributed to the construction of the country's cultural and artistic undertakings.Carrying out an in-depth study of Zheng Zhenduo's artistic activities to explore his view of art history is very worthwhile.As an important factor making up national culture,art is one of the main forms of bearing and an important carrier of national memory.It is also an important field that can affect our national influence.Although art mainly comes from the creation of artists,it also needs a benign ecological environment,which cannot be separated from the country's support and construction.Studying Zheng Zhenduo's actions,including searching,publishing,editing,promoting and so on,to protect and carry forward our national cultural heritage,especially his thoughts and efforts on protecting and collecting overseas Chinese cultural relics,has some inspiration and influence for today's national culture and art construction.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part starts from some influential catalogs compiled by Zheng Zhenduo,including Atlas of Chinese History,A Collection of Overseas Chinese Ancient Paintings,and others.The part explores the background and the reasons for compiling these catalogs,and the influence of these catalogs on the history of art.The second part mainly discusses the relationship between Zheng Zhenduo and Chinese woodcut starting from A Catalog of Chinese Notes in Beijing that he compiled with Lu Xun.It also explores his view of art history through his compilation of Selected Works of Chinese Woodcut and A Brief History of Chinese Woodcut.The third part is mainly about Zheng Zhenduo and the publications on the history of art,including the magazine in which he participated as an editor.This part also talks about the influence of Zheng Zhenduo's social participation on art history.The fourth part is about the intersection of museum science and art history.It mainly discusses Zheng Zhenduo's thoughts on museum science and his achievements.Finally,the paper summarizes the influence of Zheng Zhenduo's view of art history.So far,most researchers treat Zheng Zhenduo as a literary activist and fail to carry out in-depth study on his artistic achievements.There is also a great deviation in the positioning of his value and status.The author starts from his own major to study Zheng Zhenduo 's view of art history from the perspective of art history.However,a singleresearch method is bound to make the final results inaccurate.The combination of literature and history should of course be the basis,and multidisciplinary,multi-angle,and comprehensive analysis is also conducive to an overall grasp of the researches about Zheng Zhenduo.This author needs to read a large number of historical records,such as Zheng Zhenduo's own sorting and studying of the works on art history.The author also needs to grasp the art history of this time comprehensively,possess more original data,and enhance the effectiveness of the research findings through sorting out the existing literature and combining the actual situation.
