Survival Of The Literature’s Mediumlization Since The 1990s

Since the 1990 s,with the continuous development and rapid expansion of the mass media technology,the modern society has turned into the one covered with as well as presented by the mass media whose ubiquitous power plays an important role on the society’s politics,economy,culture,daily life and other fields.Meanwhile,it also exerts a profound influence on literature’s creation and communication.The mass media not only constructs a new external environment for the literature,but also intervenes in the literary activities as the main functional body,infiltrating the literature in all directions.Therefore,a hegemonic "media literature" has come into being.After crashing and interacting with the mass media,literature has displayed a very different survival view with "media " characteristics.It can be said that since the 1990 s,the status of media in literary activities is more prominent than that of any other period.And the relationship between media and literature is much closer,making the mass media an unignorable part in literary activities after that.In view of this,this thesis conducts an analytical research on the intricate appearance of literature in the media context since the 1990 s,and focuses on the media’s influence on literature’s living environment as well as on the various ecological manifestations literature has reflected.The thesis consists of five chapters.The first chapter summarizes the research background,the present research situation and the research achievements of "media and literature" in recent years,and puts forward its research method and direction,which lay a solid foundation for researches on literature’s mediumlization from the 1990 s.The expansion of the media has infiltrated into politics,economy,culture,life and other social aspects,and the society has been unable to be independent without the influence of the media.The rapid development of film,television as well as the network industries in particular,has played a more important role on the progress in which the traditional literature walks into these industries.The survival of literature has displayed new video and network characteristics.The chapter two mainly discusses the social environment of the mass media era,starting from the introduction of the external social media environment,and a further illustration is made about the literature’s surviving view under the influence of the mass media from that time.After that,a comparatively systematic analysis is provided concerning the internal impacts of the mass media on the literature field in the chapter three.By making a deep exploration into literature fields,this part takes a further step to explore the narrative transfer of the media literature.The mass media not only changes the way of literature transmission,but also influences literary creation as the main functional body,which lead to the self-change of narrative rules so as to adapt to the development of the media.The chapter four mainly expounds the variations that are derived from aesthetic functions and dimensions with literature in its survival of the cultural ecological environment that is constructed by the mass media and is totally different.Since the 1990 s,in the social context constructed by the mass media,literary aesthetic ethics has broken through the traditional aesthetic statute,and has begun to fall into a unordered,pluralistic and vague aesthetic state,showing the characteristics of following the secular,being open and personal.In the last part,the summary is provided based on the discussion of the literature’s survival in its mediumlization since the 1990 s.is...
