Each ethnicity in China has a long history and rich culture deposit, the culture of Miao ethnic minority is a valuable fortune in Chinese culture. Miao settle down on the Southeast-Guizhou after migrating from generation to generation. Since Miao did not create its own words, the graphics became their main way to recording thoughts of religion and details of daily life. The graphics usually be drawn on Miao clothing,architecture and living goods, due to their unique features such as rich modeling forms and extreme colors. This thesis takes Miao graphics as the breakthrough point,collecting and sorting relevant data. It starts with the cultural background of Miao,exploring the graphics culture origin and formation. According to the graphical modelling way, color characteristics and analysis of implication, exploring graphics in visual communication design with modern design concept of Miao, which leads to better inheritance and development of the regional traditional culture and art.Combining with modern visual design, Miao graphics not only could keep its own characteristics, but also could have innovation and will be expressed to modern society in a more novel way.Thesis is based on the field trip of Southeast-Guizhou province, real political information after taking photos and interviewing the local people, and the relevant holdings, papers, books. In-depth research from the following several aspects: First, the history of Miao culture background and the significance of cultural heritage and development are summarized, and collect relevant research data including foreign website to analyze and summarize. Using the field research method, literature induction,analyzing,conversion method to study Miao graphics. Second,Miao culture and graphic culture origin are elaborated according to the analysis. Third, summarizing the graphic visual forms, comb, including Miao graphical way of modelling, color character and moral connotation, which prepare for the following design principles and methods.Fourth, inducting and analyzing Miao graphics to creative orientation, holding the principle and measure of related. Combining Miao graphics and visual design better,specific methods to prepare for the next chapter, through the 'extract shape' 'integrating the meaning' 'matching the color'design principle. Fifth, on the basis of the principles of Miao graphics used in the visual design method for further exploration, from its symbolic connotation, syncretizing modelling, color rationalization from three aspects.By using the method of graphic design to simplify, combine and rebuild the Miao graphics, combined with the specific design case analysis including their own design practice to demonstrate, and fusion of three design patterns, namely, theme design,series design, interesting design, make creative work with time semantic, which promoting ethnic culture protection and inheritance. Finally, combined with the era background, summarizing the thesis and give some prospect to the further research.
