A Report On Chinese Translation Of Western Australia Commercial Tenancy (Retail Shops) Agreements Act 1985

In recent years,with the continuous deepening of the concept of ruling the country according to law,the process of the modernization of China's legal system has grown by leaps and bounds,and foreign legal and cultural exchanges have increased.Every year,a large amount of legal content is translated into English.At the same time,a considerable part of foreign legal content is translated into Chinese.International exchanges inevitably involve the translation of various forms of legal documents,such as declarations,treaties,contracts,agreements,and international regulations.Therefore,legal translation is indispensable.In addition,legal translation also plays an important role in promoting the development of China's legal system.In language learning,the translation of legal language is a branch of translation studies and an important supplement to translation studies.This thesis takes the translation of Commercial Rental(Retail Store)Agreement Act of 1985 in Western Australia as an example to discuss issues that need attention in the translation of legal texts.In this paper,the first and second chapters first introduced the background,nature of texts and translation process of translation projects.Western Australia Commercial Tenancy(Retail Shops)Agreements Act 1985 is derived from a legislative electronic database maintained by the Office of the Attorney General of the Western Australian Parliament.The third chapter of the thesis analyzes some basic principles of legal translation such as: precise rigor,consistency before and after,clear and concise,and language normative.The fourth chapter of the thesis analyzes the characteristics of legal language and related cases,including the translation of typical vocabulary;typical sentence translation such as Notwithstanding,Where-based clause,etc.;typical syntactic translation,such as simple sentence,long sentence translation.The last chapter of the thesis is a summary of translation practice,summarizing the problems encountered in the translation process and ways to solve them.Through this translation practice,translators use translation techniques such as literal translation,free translation,translation translation and pre-translation.In view of the particularity of the translation of legal texts,the translator adopts the above strategies to make the translations more in line with the Chinese language legal norms and enhance the texture and visibility of the translation.
