Nowadays,‘Chinese Fever' is warming up all over the world and the teaching of Chinese has been on a rapid rise in many countries.Under this condition,the need for Chinese teaching materials which are more targeted,scientific and practical is increasing dramatically.Currently,there are large quantities of Chinese teaching materials published in the mainland of China,but few of them can fit the teaching and learning environment of other countries.This situation is bad for Chinese international promotion.Integrated Chinese is the one of the most popular and wildly used Chinese textbooks in North America.Based on the third edition of this textbook,this paper takes an evaluation framework proposed by professor Jun Liu as a reference,analyses it's overall design and compiling features,and also discusses it's content which mainly includes texts,words,grammar,exercises and cultural projects.At last,this paper points out the advantages and disadvantages of Integrated Chinese and then offers some advices on textbook compilation.Hopefully,this article can provide a reference for compiling more high-quality Chinese textbooks in the future.
