The teaching materials play a crucial role in the process of second language teaching. This paper aims at studying the elementary Chinese integrated textbooks based on the level one of "Integrated Chinese" compiled by Tao-chung Yao and Yue hua Liu.Through the analysis and evaluation of the compilation and the use of textbooks,the experience in the compilation of primary teaching materials will be summed up,hoping to provide some reference for the future research on the synthesis of teaching materials and the practice of Chinese teaching.This paper is divided into the following sections: the first chapter is the introduction, which mainly clarifies the scope and significance of the research,pointing out the methods of study of this paper. The second chapter mainly introduces the present situation of the research on the teaching materials of Chinese as a foreign language. The third chapter mainly refers to the analysis of "Integrated Chinese"from the following five aspects: the compiling principles, the whole structure of the teaching materials, texts, exercises and cultural projects. The fourth chapter summarizes the previous analysis. The fifth chapter analyzes the existing problems and puts forward some suggestions. The sixth chapter is the conclusion.
