The author participated from 2015 to 2017 in the term translation of the UN Chronicle, which includes the processes of translation and revision.UN Chronicle is generally composed of a number of articles covering a wide range of topics such as energy, sustainable development, human rights, human settlements, environmental protection, sports, and humanitarian operations. In order to maintain the unity of style in each article, the translation of terms has to be consistent. At the same time,UN Chronicle is a formal publication which requires the use of formal language. On the other hand, the readers belong to the general public and the language has to be clear and easy to understand.By studying the translation of about 1,100 English terms and the whole review process, the author classifies the difficult parts into three categories: terms with various translations, terms with few references and terms on which the translators make mistakes. As these problems are bound to affect the translation efficiency, and even cause understanding problems for the readers, the author adopts the methods of case analysis and comparison to analyze these problems and put forward corresponding solutions.
