A Report On The E-C Translation Of Meeting Our Commitments To Gender Equality In Education(The Second Part)

The source text is selected from the official website of the United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO).It was prepared by Global Education Monitoring(GEM),sixth in the series and released in 2018,entitled Meeting our Commitments to Gender Equality in Education.This review analyzes the gender issues from two parts.This translation practice takes the second part as corpus,which analyzes various organizations,laws and policies to explore how to define and implement accountability for gender equality in education,and carries out translation practice under the guidance of Hans Vermeer's Skopos Theory.This report is divided into four chapters.Chapter One is a description of translation tasks and an analysis of the current situation of gender equality at home and abroad.Chapter Two is a summary of translation practice,including preceding preparation,translation practice and proofreading.Chapter Three makes a concrete analysis on the consistency of terms and high frequency words,highlighting vocative features of evaluative language,rendering noun phrases in verb-object collocation,specialization of legal provisions,stress on compactness in tables and figures translating and emphasis on irony in cartoon translation.Chapter Four makes a summary and reflection on translation practice,including analyzing translation experience and lessons,and stating the problems left behind in the process of the translation.Through the process of initial translation,draft translation with commentary as well as proofreading and editing,the author has gained a deeper understanding of translation practice.The difficulties encountered in the process of translation improve the translator's ability to solve difficulties in the future work and study.In addition,it also enriches the translator's experience in writing translation practice reports and lays a good foundation for future work and learning.
