A Report On The Translation Of The Times Of Israel From The Perspective Of Skopostheorie

With the development of international communication and globalization,an increasing number of news media have launched multilingual websites to better serve readers from all over the world.As an Israel national media,the Times of Israel is running a Chinese website,whose news is composed of translations of its English version,aiming to enable Chinese readers to better understand Israel economy,science and technology,business,history and culture and boost the two nations'cooperation in economy,education,etc.Cultural,geographical and social differences between these two countries,however,constitute great challenges in the process of translation.In light of Skopostheorie,the report conducts an analysis of translation skills adopted to deal with headlines,leads and bodies.The report is divided into four chapters.In the first chapter,the author makes a brief introduction to the translation project and specific requirements.The second chapter elaborates on Skopostheorie and gives an introduction to news writing and its structure.Based on the examples selected from the target texts produced by the author,the third chapter examines the translation skills used by the author to translate news headlines,leads and bodies.Lastly,the author makes a brief conclusion of the whole report.
