Political translation is a vital bridge in international communication and one of the most complicated, sensitive and highly demanding translation activities,as it concerns national interests and foreign relations. In the process of political communication, political terms translation is especially important. This paper is an attempt to identify effective and appropriate translation strategies to enhance the effectiveness of political translation, especially in Chinese political terms. It conducts an analysis of political terms translation from the perspective of Eco-translatology which argues that all translation takes place in one eco-environment and translation is defined as translator's adaption and selection activities. The study collects 328 political terms from the terms translated and published by Central Compilation&Translation Bureau, including 91 terms in the conceptual field of economy,118 terms in the conceptual field of reform,22 terms in the conceptual field of law and regulations,67 terms in the field of war and other 37 typical political terms.Under the guidance of Eco-translatology,this paper analyzes some political terms from linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension. As to the political terms characterized by parallel structure and rich connotation, the original meaning and language features of them should be kept from the linguistic dimension. As to those political terms rich in Chinese culture, the translator should convey crucial information of them to adapt to both source and target culture. As to the new and sensitive political terms, the content and formal of them should be revealed as much as possible to achieve the equivalence of political connotations and effective inter-cultural exchange.
