This report is based on a simulated simultaneous interpretation of a lecture named"Modeling and Control of Discrete Event System:Automata and Petri Net Perspective".The lecture features technical knowledge of information and communication field and both written and colloquial expressions. The interpreter's subjectivity refers to the interpreter's subjective initiative distinctive with the cultural awareness and aesthetic creativity.Difficulties in realizing interpreters' subjectivity in the task are divided into three categories:Chinese lines of poems and idioms without equivalents in English which would lead to misunderstanding due to cultural differences;technical terms covered in the lecture which are difficult for the audience to understand;different syntactic structures since Chinese is a topic-prominent language whereas English is a subject-prominent one.Hence, the interpreter should fully use subjective initiatives to adopt appropriate tactics to yield a qualified interpretation. From the perspective of Conceptual Blending Theory, the interpreter analyses practical examples in the interpreting task and puts forward the tactic of paraphrasing to resolve difficulties caused by cultural differences to avoid misunderstanding, the tactic of addition to resolve difficulties caused by technical terms to further explain the concepts introduced in the lecture and the tactic of syntactic restructuring to resolve difficulties caused by syntactic disparity to make the interpretation in accordance to English syntactic structure.Combined with practical examples in the interpreting task, the report explores the tactics for realizing interpreters' subjectivity, which helps us to manipulate subjective initiative to broaden our minds and explore new interpretation tactics.
