E-C Translation Of The Sci-tech News On China Daily Inews Website

English sci-tech news,as an important source for people worldwide to know about the latest scientific and technological development,has been the popular sections of English newspapers.However,to understand those articles is a brain-racking task for Chinese who do not possess such English reading abilities as required.Therefore,it is of urgent need for translators to find out an effective way of turning English sci-tech news into Chinese so that they can learn about the latest advances in science.Against this background,the thesis,following Newmark's communicative translation theory,tries to summarize the author's personal experience and understanding of E-C translation of the Sci-Tech News in her practicum on China Daily iNews website.In the first part,the translation report introduces the background and goals of the translation practice and the process of translation;secondly,the report gives a brief introduction of Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory;and next,the author,with the guidance of the communicative translation theory,analyzes and summarizes the key and difficult points encountered during the process of translation practice at the level of topics,punctuation marks,words and phrases,sentences,discourses,pronunciation and pragmatics and offers corresponding strategies by quoting relevant examples.At last,the author gives a summary of experience gained in the translation practice and hopes that the report can provide some references for relevant journalists.
