A Report On E-C Translation Of Online Tech-News From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation Theory

This thesis is a report based on the author's translation practice at the platform of Huanqiu.com.During the five mouths of translation,the author found that the translation of science and technology news is not satisfactory due to factors such as differences in Chinese and English language and cultures,the low quality of translators and others.In view of this,this article,under the guidance of Newmark's communicative translation theory,uses the method of case analysis to explore the translation techniques of online tech-news.It first concludes the linguistic features of online tech-news,such as the large use of abstract nouns,compound words,terms,reporting verbs,passive voice and compound sentences.For these linguistic phenomena,different translation techniques are employed,including literal translation,free translation,part-of-speech conversion,adding verbs,splitting sentences and so on.The report shows that communicative translation theory is feasible to the translation of online tech-news.By using different translation techniques,the translation can be more in line with Chinese expression habits and meet the reading requirements of the target audience.In a word,the research in this paper can not only improve the translation quality of the online tech-news,but also provide references for other practical texts translation.
